Join us at the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago on Saturday, April 25 at 6:30 in the evening for Gather License to Give, for an evening of intrigue, elegance and high-stakes fun recognizing 25 years of supporting birthparents. We are delighted to honor Gretchen Sisson, PhD, whose research and advocacy have advanced birthparent voices nationwide.
Twenty-five years ago, On Your Feet Foundation was founded on a simple but radical belief: that birthparents deserve support, community, and care long after placement. We wish that were no longer necessary.
Instead, twenty-five years later, we have grown into the Birthparent Support Alliance — touching the lives of more than 800 birthparents across the U.S. and Canada, expanding into clinical mental health services, and centering maternal wellbeing at every step. We mark this milestone not with celebration, but with recommitment. Because as long as birthparents are navigating grief, loss, and the lasting emotional weight of placement, this work matters.
Funds raised by this event are necessary for us to continue carrying out our mission of providing birthparents with the comprehensive support they deserve. By removing barriers to care, we hope to end the silent suffering of birthparents and provide accessible, compassionate support at no cost to them. Your support also allows us to continue producing crucial adoption education resources that reflect the lived experiences of birthparents and adopted people in order to create better outcomes for both.
Demands for our services have grown annually and expanded nationwide since recognition for our expertise in birthparent services remains unparalleled. Birthparent Support Alliance is primarily funded by private donations which is why we rely on donors like you to enable our important work.
